Mariellen Ward is an award-winning professional freelance writer and blogger based in Toronto. She launched her travel blog,, in August 2009. Breathedreamgo is inspired by her extensive travels in South Asia, and dedicated to covering “meaningful travel” experiences including volunteering, single and long-term travel, yoga and spiritual travel, health and wellness and ecotourism. Breathedreamgo won a Canadian Weblog Award, Canada’s top blogging award, in the travel category in 2011.

Mariellen has a BA in Journalism and writes for leading Canadian and international newspapers and magazines such as the Toronto Star, Zoomer, Homemakers, Canadian Living, Dreamscapes, Discover India and for many online travel sites such as Sympatico Travel, Bootsnall, The Matador Network, and Journeywoman, among others. She is a regular contributor to, and, where she writes a bi-monthly Immersive Travel feature. In 2011 she published her first book, Song of India: Tales of Travel and Transformation.

As well as being the co-founder of Toronto Travel Massive, she is a founding member of the Professional Travel Bloggers Association. She regularly speaks at events and conferences such as Meet, Plan, Go and MagNet about travel blogging.
